A
stand with an area of 32 m2 was arranged by the Pakistan
Horticulture Development & Export Board in the
exhibition. Two member exporters’ delegation
was led by the Marketing Manager Mr. Kashif Niazi
alongwith GM Karachi, Mr. Jamal Hasnie.
PHDEB
officials adopted a two pronged strategy for getting
maximum benefit from the fair: Visitors of our stand
were entertained properly and the officials themselves
visited other stalls for introducing PHDEB role in
horticulture sector of Pakistan.
|
| Especially
the stalls of machinery manufacturers (like cold storage
equipment, Green house technology, etc) were visited
and informed and discussed with them about the investment
opportunities available in Pakistan (including upcoming
NTC project, etc). One of such companies Unitec’s
vice president Mr Luca Montanari hoisted a special dinner
for the PHDEB delegation in which the interaction was
steered towards more personal involvement and arrangement
of their subsequent visit to Pakistan.
|
 |
Over
20,000 visitors from 80 different countries attended
the fair. There was an enthusiastic response of visitors
in the Pakistan Pavillion as it was right in front
of the entrance. Subsequently there were enormous
queries and we were successful in communicating the
role of PHDEB and the availability of our specialties
produce (like Kinnow, Mangoes, etc) besides investment
opportunities available in upcoming NTC projects.
|
Participation
in the fair helped the delegates in establishing direct
contacts in the Mediterranean and European markets.
Many companies other than importers visited the stand
such as machinery manufacturers, international exhibition
holders, etc. Also the delegates had an opportunity
to visit exhibitors of their interest such as packaging/processing
machinery manufacturers and witness new varieties of
fruit and vegetables, etc. |

This
year, Macfrut was celebrating 25th anniversary and focused
on the international character of the fresh produce
industry. Around 700 exhibitors were spread across 30,000
square metres of area. More than 40% stalls were on
fruits & vegetables produce (including fresh and
cut) whereas the rest was on grading, processing and
packaging machinery and cold storage equipments. |
